Cyperus papyrus

Cyperus papyrus, commonly known as papyrus, is a tall, clump-forming aquatic perennial with stiff, upright green stems topped by radiating umbels of fine, thread-like leaves, creating a dramatic architectural effect. It produces small, inconspicuous greenish-brown flower clusters above the foliage, adding subtle texture rather than showy blooms.

This species is highly valued for waterside and pond-edge planting, providing shelter for aquatic wildlife and a striking vertical feature in water gardens. Its vigorous, upright habit and tolerance of consistently wet conditions make it ideal for pond margins, wetland planting, and large containers in shallow water.
