Pond Plants UK is the trade arm of a family-run aquatic nursery. We raise most of what we sell ourselves; where we still bring a line in as young stock, it is grown on across our own two 15-acre sites until it meets the same standard — and we're working towards growing the lot.
A family nursery that happens to be very good at pond plants
We are a family business with a team of more than forty behind it. The people who take your order work in the same buildings as the people who potted the plants — no call centre, no broker sitting between you and a grower somewhere else.
Over the years we have grown to two fifteen-acre sites, thirty acres given over almost entirely to marginals, water lilies, oxygenators, bog plants and native aquatics, and to the growers, pickers, drivers and office staff who keep them moving. We propagate a large share of our own stock, pot it here, and grow everything on outdoors on open fenland — cold, flat and exposed. Where a line is one we can't yet raise ourselves, we buy it in young and grow it on to the same standard rather than trading it straight through; each season there is a little less of that. Plants that come through a winter here are hardened for a customer's pond, not softened by a polytunnel.
Pond Plants UK exists because the trade side of this industry has been stuck for twenty years. Availability arrives as a PDF that's a month out of date. Prices come back by email, eventually. Reordering means chasing someone on the phone. We already had the plants; what was missing was a way for buyers to see live stock, see their own price, and place an order at nine o'clock at night if that's when they get a quiet ten minutes.
So we built one. Same nursery, same plants, same people — with the ordering finally dragged into this decade.

Three founders, forty-odd colleagues
Between us we started it. The team who grow, pick, pack and deliver your order are the reason it works.
Runs the group and looks after the trade side — availability, pricing and the systems behind this site. He isn't the one packing your order, but he is the one who answers for it.
Works alongside the nursery manager on the growing side and is the public face of the business. If a crop is going out under our name, it has been past her first.
Runs structure and accounts — trade account applications, credit terms and invoicing. Anything to do with your account starts with her.
