Veronica beccabunga

Veronica beccabunga, commonly known as brooklime, is a low-growing, creeping perennial with glossy green leaves forming dense mats along pond edges, streams, and damp soils. In late spring to summer it produces small, vivid blue flowers in clusters above the foliage, adding delicate colour and interest to wet gardens.

This species thrives in consistently moist or shallowly wet soil and provides ecological value by attracting pollinators such as bees and supporting wetland insects. Its creeping, mat-forming habit and tolerance of wet conditions make it ideal for pond margins, bog gardens, and naturalistic or wildlife-focused planting schemes.
