Athyrium otophorum 'Okanum'

Athyrium otophorum 'Okanum', commonly known as Japanese lace fern, is a deciduous fern with finely divided, delicate fronds that emerge silver-grey with purple midribs before maturing to green with subtle metallic tones. Its low, arching fronds form a neat, spreading mound, providing texture and colour in shaded garden areas.

Although non-flowering, this fern provides shelter and microhabitats for small invertebrates, contributing to woodland and shaded garden biodiversity. Its elegant, low-maintenance habit makes it ideal for woodland borders, shaded rock gardens, and underplanting beneath trees and shrubs.
