Carex elata 'Aurea'

Carex elata 'Aurea', commonly known as Bowles' golden sedge, is a clump-forming, evergreen grass-like perennial with bright golden-yellow, arching foliage that adds vivid colour and texture to damp garden areas. In late spring to early summer, it produces subtle greenish flower spikes that rise above the foliage, offering delicate seasonal interest.

The plant provides habitat and shelter for small invertebrates and stabilises soil in wet conditions, giving it ecological value. Its bold, low-maintenance habit makes it ideal for pond edges, water features, bog gardens, and naturalistic wetland plantings.
