Gunnera manicata
£3.00
Gunnera manicata, commonly known as giant rhubarb, is a dramatic, clump-forming perennial with enormous, deeply lobed, spiky green leaves that can reach several metres across. In summer, it produces tall, conical clusters of small greenish flowers on sturdy stems, followed by large, decorative seed heads, adding structural interest to large gardens or water features.
The plant provides shelter for insects and small wildlife, giving it ecological value, particularly in damp or wet areas. Its bold, architectural habit makes it ideal for pond edges, damp borders, and naturalistic plantings where a tropical or statement plant effect is desired.
