Trichophorum alpinum

Trichophorum alpinum, commonly known as alpine bulrush or cotton deergrass, is a small, clump-forming sedge with slender, three-sided stems and very short leaves, giving it a fine, grass-like appearance. In mid-summer it produces soft, cottony white bristles above the foliage, creating a delicate, plume-like effect that adds subtle interest to wetland edges and damp gardens.

This species thrives in wet, boggy habitats such as fens, wet meadows, and pond margins, providing cover for small wildlife and contributing to the structure of natural plant communities.
