Aponogeton distachyos
£3.00
Aponogeton distachyos, commonly known as water hawthorn, is a distinctive deep-water aquatic with elongated, slightly crinkled floating leaves that spread gracefully across the pond surface. From autumn through spring, it produces elegant white flowers with dark anthers, held just above the water and carrying a light vanilla fragrance.
It performs best in full sun in still water and is particularly valued for flowering outside the main water lily season. The foliage provides shade and shelter for fish, while the scented blooms offer an unusual seasonal highlight and attract early pollinating insects.
