Chrysosplenium alternifolium

Chrysosplenium alternifolium, commonly known as alternate-leaved golden-saxifrage, is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial with small, rounded green leaves forming dense carpets along damp soils and pond margins. In spring it produces clusters of tiny, bright yellow-green flowers that add subtle colour to wet woodland floors and marginal areas.

This species is valuable for pollinators and contributes to wetland biodiversity, providing cover for small invertebrates. Its creeping, mat-forming habit and tolerance of consistently moist or shallowly submerged soil make it ideal for pond edges, wet borders, and naturalistic water gardens.
